Eastern Sierras, CA

 Christmas Eve in Alabama Hills

Christmas Eve in Alabama Hills

"Cloud-dappled hills and sun-streaked mountaintops dabbed with snow typify the landscape of the Eastern Sierra, where slashing peaks – many over 14,000ft – rush abruptly upward from the arid expanses of the Great Basin and Mojave Deserts. It’s a dramatic juxtaposition that makes for a potent cocktail of scenery. Pine forests, lush meadows, ice-blue lakes, simmering hot springs and glacier-gouged canyons are only some of the beautiful sights you’ll find in this region."

That is how Lonely Planet describes the Eastern Sierras in California. I wouldn't be able to find a better way to put it.

Traveling along the historical U.S. Route 395, we had the chance to explore a fraction of this amazingly beautiful and diverse region over a little road trip during Christmas in December 2017. There is still much more to be seen and explored, and I hope I will have the chance to be back again soon.
