U.S. Road Trip: the final chapter
So the last part of our trip to California started with our friends Juli and Matt, who not only let us stay at their place in Huntington Beach but also picked us up at the train station late at night when we arrived from Ventura.
We had only two days there before taking the train to San Diego, but we still managed to have a great time there, enjoying the beach, paddle boarding around the harbor, biking at sunset and getting to know a bit of Juli's successful company and enterprises.
It was great to spend some time with them, see their beautiful apartment and get to know a bit of the area.
After that it was time for some bike riding, and the sunset we got at the beach was just gorgeous.
And to finish the day, some great Mexican food, before heading back home so Ale could catch up with a good friend of hers.
Alba, my mother-in-law, was kind enough to pick us up at the train station in Oceanside, and it was then the first time I was actually meeting her in person :D
She had all her rooms of her apartment rented to AirBnB guests, so we got to stay at the surf camp where Ale used to work, and it was awesome to be there so close to the ocean, and in a super cool, vintage Airstream! :D
Here I must say Thank You! to Emily and Greg, who were super generous to let us stay there while they were away on vacation.
We had an awesome time there, surfing together, enjoying fabulous sunsets...
Even Juli and Matt showed up one day and spent one night with us there!
I was super pleased to know Alba and in many, many ways she reminds me my own mother...and only God knows how much I miss my mom, and my dad, and my two brothers...
We had some pretty epic sunsets there, and it was great to be on a surfboard again after so many years. I got some small waves throughout the days we spent there, and even attempted to get some shots of Ale showing her classic, vintage surfing.
We had so much fun surfing and being in the water together...it was awesome!
It is even hard to put into words how special our time in Southern California was, and I must also say thank you to Alba for all the help she has been giving us, for all her support, also for having helped me with the ring I got for Ale.
Our time there in California might not have been that long, but we will sure go back, and it seems it's gonna be much sooner than what we were originally planned.
I will be back here soon, probably sharing some more pictures from the bustling and colorful streets of Cartagena...
