A trip to the dreamland of Yangshuo: chapter I

Welcome to Yangshuo, China,

Land of poets, set in a dreamland of enchanting karst mountains and pristine rivers...

A place with a fairytale-like landscape and an ancient culture that have been inspiring artists for centuries...

I've been here now for a week, and I am absolutely in love with it! To the point of seriously thinking of moving here...

I do love Cambodia but now that I am here in Yangshuo I've realized how much I've missed Nature and the outdoors...the scenery here is indescribable and brings me the peace and inspiration I can't find in busy, grey cities...

I love the slower rhythm here; the food is delicious, fresh and healthy; sunrises and sunsets are magical; the traditional Chinese music is beautiful...

There is indeed a very touristic side of Yangshuo, which is perfectly understandable, considering its unique natural beauty, but as long as you have an adventurous spirit, a good map and a scooter, or a bicycle, you will find little roads and trails crossing through small and genuine villages and taking you to places of impressive beauty.

And that's what I've been doing here, with the amazing support of my three local guides Jane, Kara and Yulian - three lovely Chinese girls who take me to places off-the-beaten-track when they are not busy working here at the guesthouse where I'm staying.

I am here to make a short travel video for the Yangshuo Insider and I've already put together some very nice footage :) I will post the final video here once it's done.

For now, here are some of the pictures I've made here so far.

I am happy I still have two weeks more here - or even more, who knows.. :D

This trip might just be the beginning of a new chapter in my life...

But this would be the topic for another post :)
