Happy New Year!!!
I'm with my father now in São Luís, enjoying our last day together for now. My brother Tiago left us last night after two unforgettable weeks here, and tomorrow I'm going to be the one catching a flight out of Maranhão.
My destination: Aracaju. I'm gonna spend the New Years Eve with my mother, and then I will go to São Paulo, where I'm going to catch my flight back to Asia on January 5th.
My 2015 has been an incredibly beautiful year, and there was no better way to finish it than being back in Brazil with my family and dear friends. I've been having a wonderful time, and although I still have eight days here, I've already started to feel a bit nostalgic.
As much as I love traveling and discovering the world, I hate being so far way from my family, for so long.
But I'm also excited about next year. I'm feeling very positive about it and I'm going to do my very best, everyday, to make it another incredible year in my life.
It's impossible to know where it is going to take me, but I will sure enjoy everyday, every moment - as if they were my last. All we have is now.
This year has been one of the very best of my life; it is impossible for me to try to find the highlights or best moments. I loved everything about it. I traveled to many beautiful places, came across beautiful inspiring people, and grew a lot, as a photographer, as a person.
I hope you have also had a good year, and I wish you an even better 2016!! May it (make it!) be an incredible chapter in your life!
Be present, enjoy the moment, dream, and go out there and make them come true! It won't be easy; but if it was, it wouldn't be so rewarding to achieve them! :)
Enjoy your family and friends, celebrate the "little" moments and things, be grateful, be happy!
I also hope we can all get together to make this world a better place in 2016, with less hate, intolerance and preconceptions; and more respect, compassion, love and understanding. A new, sustainable and more equitable society is only possible if we all work, relentlessly and together, to overcome the (unsustainable) paradigms of modern society.
This may sound like a utopia, but that is exactly what it is for: to keep us walking, believing, moving towards where our dreams want to take us.
"While we can't guess what will become of the world, we can imagine what we would like it to become. The right to dream was' tin the 30 rights of humans that the United Nations proclaimed at the end of 1948. But, without it, without the right to dream and the waters that it gives to drink, the other rights would die of thirst". "The Right to Dream", Eduardo Galeano
I also wish you, as an individual, a beautiful New Year. I thank you for supporting my work, and I hope you can have a 2016 fulfilled with great, unforgettable moments.
I'm sure you - myself, and all of us - will also go through difficult times, but we must understand that they are an essential part of life. Without the bad, we just cannot appreciate the good. One of the secrets of a happy, serene life - I think - is to find that very fine balance on which we can navigate through both turbulent and calm waters.
So thank you so much for being part of my journey, and I will see you in 2016, kicking it off here with a post about my super special time in my beautiful homeland Brazil!
Happy Holidays, and a wonderful 2016!!!
